Blue energy – Cédric BOUTEILLER

Cédric Bouteiller was born in 1970 in Rognac, France. He lives and works in the south of France. Bouteiller studied fine arts and philosophy at the University of Aix-en-Provence before traveling to New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, and Shanghai.

He has been involved in the Street Art movement since 2009, when Bouteiller exhibited at the Galerie DX in Bordeaux. The artist draws on symbols, graffiti, stencils, and posters from Street Art. His works are enriched with images printed on brushed aluminum, enhanced with collages, drawings, and tags covered with a translucent resin. His artistic expression is a mixture of different techniques, a fusion of modern photography, contemporary painting, graffiti, digital retouching, and collage.

Anthony Tàpies and Pierre Alechinsky are an integral part of Cédric Bouteiller’s inspirations. It was in Arles that the artist also developed a passion for Picasso and discovered the literary influence of Cocteau. Cédric Bouteiller’s travels allow him to assemble several images and embellished memories in his works. The artist shows us a visionary aspect, the result of a clever mix of urban views of the cities he has visited. Cédric Bouteiller is also an alchemist. A mystical alchemy to transcend his condition, a mystical alchemy to raise his consciousness. Bouteiller speculates on the oxidation of matter, the hardening of a plasticizer, the evaporation of paint.
