Born in 1986, Paul Sibuet is a French visual artist. Trained in design and art, he perfected his skills by painting with his masters.

His work has been recognized in numerous competitions in Tokyo and Paris. He quickly broke free from the techniques he had been taught by exploring his own perceptions of objects and volumes, thus creating his signature style. He now lives in Lyon and exhibits in Geneva, New York, and Venice, among other places.

Sibuet structures shapes, colors, and materials. He freezes movement in abundant lines. A deconstructed order. He uses the impertinence of his conception of vice and innocence in sensitive effects of light and shadow.

In his “installations,” monochrome and figurative productions, the artist plays with physical constraints to bring spaces to life.

They highlight a reflection on the codes of the past and the future. Gold leaf, trompe-l’oeil marble, and matte white are all materials that evoke the monumental and the sumptuous, mocking the immaterial, for they are its colors, and the sacred, the divine, the unfathomable, and the infinite resonate within them. By freeing himself from dictates and sometimes clashing with academicism, the artist offers us pieces liberated from the notion of space, making the work spring forth to challenge us. In the “Snapshot” series, the work mocks technique, being the result of work on the deformation of stretched canvases.

Taking the paradoxes even further in the “Breaking the Glass” series, the artist confronts the imagination of childhood with the recklessness of adulthood. He offers us a dreamlike reality with a kind of more or less inappropriate impulse. A mass of life that he infuses us with through overdose.

Through his productions, the artist gives us a feeling of profound freedom, almost anonymous, in which everyone can find themselves or lose themselves… He reveals a universe that is close to us, always on the edge of reality and the unknown.
