Cédric Kozluk, born in Lyon in 1976, is above all passionate about drawing. In 1991, this passion led him to discover graffiti and its subversive universe. From this encounter was born Brusk, a multifaceted artist who is at once a graffiti artist, muralist, painter, draftsman, sculptor, but above all a storyteller of a world in decline, whose suffering and injustices he sublimates through an explosive and striking aesthetic.
Since 1991, Brusk’s creativity has continued to evolve, but his style is distinguished by the use of two techniques that are omnipresent in his work: dripping and tearing, which often fragment the representation of the world he offers us.
From this alteration of motifs through tearing and dripping emerges a lightness and softness, revealing a world where it seems possible to soften, reconcile, love, and even hope for a better future.
Thus, a powerful ambiguity arises between colorful and luminous forms and a rebellious, acidic, sometimes very dark background. It is an expression that denounces the dysfunctions of our modern societies, a raw inner revolt that transforms the ugliness of the world into an explosion of beauty. This true “pictorial oxymoron” ultimately gives us hope.
However, it would be a mistake to reduce Brusk’s work to dripping and tearing alone. The artist finely crafts a universe that is both light and brutal, accurately confronting nature and culture. He invites us to look at the monstrosities of our world with a benevolent gaze, transcending negativity and embracing the possibility of transformation.
